Our Embedded Security course gives developers practical advice on how to improve security of their embedded designs.
This edition is based on Yocto Projects, so we are going to use YP specific tools as bitbake, the cve-check and spdx classes, and more. Basic knowledge of YP is needed.
The Embedded Security course allows embedded developers to include security best practices in their projects from day one. It is a hands-on training, based on projects and assignments. The course is completely online, all students will have prepared virtual machines for their individual access. Every day we will mix instructor-led video conferences to introduce subjects and answer questions, practical assignments (writing a recipe, creating your own distribution, find data in the generated SBOM…) and live chat between participants and the teaching team.
Using a project-based approach, the students will see how to do the following:
- Know secure system design
- Build your own distribution
- Use and analyze CVEs and SBOMs
- Harden a Linux system
- Set up permissions
- Run services as users
- Audit your system image
- Choose packages with security in mind
Current sessions:
- December 9-13, 2024 at 950 euros or 1020 US dollars, aligned with Americas time
- January 20-24, 2025 at 950 euros, aligned with Europe/Africa time
The number of places is limited for each session.
Bonuses
Embedded security is a fast-changing field. Because of that, everyone enrolled in the Embedded Security course will be invited to two additional webinars:
- Yocto Project security changes after scarthgap – including changes in the CVE checking tooling, SBOM generation and more
- The current state of the Cyber Resilience Act – latest updates after the publication of the final CRA version
